Book summary
In this book, the resident donuts are tired of getting sprinkles all over them because it sometimes lands them in the Day-Old Donuts bin. Sprink, the shop’s sprinkled donut, just dances around spreading the sweet sprinkles everywhere. She isn’t aware that her sprinkles are an issue for her donut friends.
The donuts decide to avoid Sprink and go so far as to not play for her. This makes Sprink super sad.
Darla, the baker and owner at the shop, decides that she needs to help her donuts be kind to each other. She introduces the donuts to the “Golden Brown Rule” (like the Golden Rule) and hangs a sign in the shop.
Darla teaches that it’s more important to respect each other and be kind than it is to have clean glaze and frosting. The donuts taste better when they’re all kind.
The donuts all place sprinkles on themselves to show her support. A customer walks in and loves all the sprinkles and buys a lot of donuts.
