Bismarck Doughnuts is the Sidecar Doughnuts of Utah
Utahns love their Disney and Southern California traditions… which often includes grabbing a super premium doughnut from Sidecar Doughnuts. I get it – I also have this on my list as a must-visit every time I trade in the cold Utah weather for the warmer air, palm trees, and beach of SoCal.

What if I told you that you didn’t need to travel to LA for those delightful donuts? Well, now you need to just venture a little south to Orem to grab a set of doughnuts from Bismarck. This new sweet shop opened January 7th in the stores south of the University Mall (next to Einsteins Bagels).
Why is Bismarck Doughnuts special?
Similar to the premium experience at Sidecar, Bismarck delivers on a promise for fried deliciousness. Here are the main reasons I think you should visit this donut shop and why you will likely start seeing more locations pop up in the near future:
Highest quality ingredients.
It’s priced higher than your grocery store donuts. However, you should expect the price when only the highest ingredients are used.
Doughnuts made throughout the day.
This consistent production helps ensure that you’re going to get a fresh donut. Logistics for this type of operation are greater but it all benefits us, the consumers.
Balance of salty and sweet.
Sidecar is an expert in this – making their donuts feel like balanced desserts rather than heaps of sugar. You’re getting the same great balance at Bismarck. It’s a place that I can pound two donuts without thinking and don’t hate myself hours later…
Great ownership.
I’ve met the owner and his family and it’s people you know are dedicated to provide the best experience for their customers. This friendly ownership rubs off on all the employees.
Expert flavors
They have all the popular flavors but don’t skimp. You get a full flavor experience in every bite. I recommend especially trying the maple bacon and blueberry (packed with fresh wild blueberry).
What if I hate doughnuts?
Based on the taste and quality, this is a doughnut shop that I would send people that profess to hate donuts. I don’t believe anyone can hate donuts – I just think they’ve tried the wrong donuts.
