Sugar High Dessert Festival 2021

Wow wow wow! Utah’s premier dessert festival in 2021, Sugar High, was a HIT. A hit that has left me and thousands of others high for months… high on sweets and excitement.

What is Sugar High?

What we (me (Donut Critic), Bryan Carr (DonutsUnplugged), and Heather Carr) were able to create in our first annual Sugar High Dessert Festival was nothing short of awesome. We gathered the 60 best dessert shops around Utah and packed in 2000 of Utahs craziest sugar fans.

The result – a wonderland of desserts, product announcements, sugar highs, trays full of desserts, picture opportunities that filled up the social channels, and a dessert experience that will last a lifetime. A sellout crowd even on a fall break weekend… think of how crazy it’s going to be on a non holiday weekend.

Sugar High Location

We held the famed show at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy, UT in one of their main, large halls. If you asked me what I thought Sugar High would have been when I walked into the huge empty hall months before the show, I would have answered “I hope everyone shows up.”

And show up they did – in droves. Don’t ever doubt the dessert love of Utah. It runs deep. I’m honored to be one of the foodies that gets to showcase the amazing dessert environment in the state. Some of those in attendance included Chubby Baker, Les Madeleines, Doki Doki, Kimmie’s Kandies, The Dough Lady, Hello Donuts, Sweet E’s, Mountain Donuts, Bohemian Baklava, Vosen’s Bakery, Banbury Cross Donuts, Fresh Donut & Deli, Quench It, Cache Toffee, Dunked Cookies, Rooster’s Popcorn, Crumbl Cookies, and many others!

Sugar High in 2022

Some have asked if we are going to be able to recreate this again? Let’s just say it’s going to be bigger and better for 2022! That’s right – we’re preparing to double.
